Because of The Cold Weather . . .

This post will not tell you about my private story, yet it shows the use of because and because of, especially their difference. Here it is...

The difference between because and because of (although they both mean "karena" in Bahasa) is:

1. Because is followed by a SUBJECT and VERB. (because + S +V)

For example:
  • Because the weather was cold, we stayed home.
  • We stayed home because the weather was cold.
2. Because of is followed by a NOUN object. (because of + N)

For example:
  • Because of the cold weather, we stayed home.
  • We stayed home because of the cold weather.
