Present Perfect Tense

Adalah sebuah bentuk kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan:

A. Hal atau perbuatan yang sudah selesai pada waktu sekarang. Contoh:

I have missed the train. (Saya sudah ketinggalan kereta tersebut).

He has dropped the glass. (Dia telah menjatuhkan gelas).

B. Perbuatan yang telah terjadi tetapi waktunya belum habis. Contoh:

We have bought four books this year.

I have received two letters this month.

C. Peristiwa/perbuatan yang sudah dimulai pada waktu lampau dan masih berlangsung hingga waktu sekarang.Contoh:\

I have studied English for three years.

She has lived here since five years ago.

Dari contoh-contoh kalimat tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pola kalimat yang menggunakan Present Perfect Tense adalah:

Subject + have/has + verb (past participle) + adverb

#Catatan:

1) Penggunaan since dan for.

Since berarti sejak. Since digunakan untuk menunjukkan waktu mulainya aktivitas tertentu di masa lampau yang masih berlansung hingga sekarang.

Contoh: 

I have lived in Kampung Siluman since 1995.

She has cleaned the house since two hours ago.

For berarti selama. For digunakan untuk menunjukkan lamanya waktu berlangsungnya suatu aktivitas.

Contoh:

I have lived in Kampung Siluman for 18 years.

She has cleaned the house for two hours.

2)Kata keterangan (adverb) yang dapat digunakan dalam bentuk Present Perfect Tense adalah:

- already : sudah

- (not) yet : belum

- often : sering

- ever : pernah

- never : tidak pernah

- always : selalu

- occasionally : sekali-kali

- just : baru saja

- sometimes : kadang-kadang
